It was actually two pieces of clear plexiglass framed together with colorful sand (pink and white or blue and white, maybe other colors, as well) that you flipped upside down to make the sand form beautiful mountain-like views. As an added bonus, the sand glowed in the dark (or the white sand did) The Magic Window, developed by Roy R. Cloutier, and licensed to Whamo sold over 20 million units in the 1970s. Shifting colored crystals swirl around magically as you move the frame. It has been off the market for 25 years, but you can now find it a www.magicwindows.org.
